Graduate REALTOR® Institute

What is GRI?
The GRI designation is a national designation delivered by the state REALTOR® associations. The 90-hour course of study meets the accreditation standards established by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. Upon completion of the program, students are awarded the GRI designation (Graduate REALTOR® Institute). Only members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® may hold the GRI designation.

Is GRI worth the time, effort, and expense? Columnst Dr. Ken Edwards thinks so. Here's why.

Why Become a GRI

Who should attend?
The 90-hour program is designed primarily for members for whom residential real estate is their main business activity. The course of study helps members increase their knowledge and skills in a broad array of technical subjects and in the fundamentals of real estate. The program also provides opportunities to develop important business contacts.

"I encourage all my new agents to get started in the GRI progrm. Once they have taken one class, I never have to bother them again because they have never had classes that pertain to the day to day activity as does the GRI." John Stacey, GRI, Broker, McCulloch Realty

"I've noticed that the GRI classes have totally impacted my conversations with clients in every area - listing presentations, buyer-broker agreements, how I write a contract, the verbiage I use, the structure of a contract, and the many new learned nuances of real estate law and abiding within the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. I interact differently with my broker (who is a GRI also and encouraged me to get my designation). I notice that I am also much more confident, knowledgeable, and able to quickly and easily share that new knowledge with my clients. Truly, receiving my GRI has given me the tools I needed to heighten my confidence in protecting and promoting the interests of my clients." Roxanne Lee, GRI, Exit Realty - The Scott Company
